While
technically a "plain border" star quilt, the
addition of appliqued ravens qualifies this pretty star
quilt as a "fancy" star quilt without the price
tag. With two ravens, it's only $24 more than a
plain border star quilt. Several shades of green
and yellow with black and white make a stunning color
combination. It can be made in a king/queen size
too, with four ravens.

The
number seven is special to the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee
tribal flag bears a seven point star, which represents
the seven clans of the Cherokee---the Bird, Wild Potato,
Deer, Long Hair, Paint, Blue, and Wolf clans. The star
of this quilt is made with seven colors. You may pick
your own colors if you wish. The border around the star
may seem simple, but it contains 650 pieces of fabric.

24" eagle in the center of the star, and the feathers
and medicine wheels in the corners, and the arrowheads
in the cardinal directions, are all appliqued on the quilt.
There is hand quilting around the eagle and the feathers.
The colors in this star quilt are burgandy, turquoise,
sunshine yellow, gray, black and white.
