ABOUT DIANE'S STAR QUILT KITS AND PATTERNS:

CLICK ON THE PHOTOS of the quilts to see a close up.

Most queen size star quilt kits and patterns will make a star measuring 60", which is the width of a queen size mattress. For baby star quilt kits and patterns, an eleven-row star measures about 37". A seven-row baby star measures about 25".

Quilts are pieced, made using the strip cutting method. SOME kits and patterns call for templates, and the pattern for these are included. There are no appliques in the stars. The Turtle Island star quilt does have appliques for the eyes, however, or flat small buttons will work.

If you want to make your star quilt larger, it's easy and fun to purchase some pretty matching or contrasting fabrics and add several borders around the star to make it the exact size you want. First step: Measure your quilt before borders are added. Then measure your mattress across and down, and measure how far down over the mattress that you wish your quilt to hang on each side; and add all of these figures together. Then subtract the size of your quilt from this figure, and divide the answer by 2. This will tell you how wide the borders need to be. If you want more than one border, you can divide this figure as many times as you want. Borders can have one, two, three, or more borders.

DO YOU PLAN TO SELL A STAR QUILT THAT YOU MADE USING ONE OF DIANE'S PATTERNS OR KITS?  PLEASE READ THE COPYRIGHT INFORMATION PAGE BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

COOL IDEAS for creative people: You can use a queen size kit or pattern to make your own curtains by using the two halves of a star for the two panels. Baby star quilts make great WALLHANGINGS too! Or you can sew a star onto your shawl, jacket, skirt, or just about anything else! One really creative customer even made a dozen baby stars to tack onto her bedroom ceiling. Awesome!

Here's a photo of the Dawn Star sewn onto a purple shawl.  Knockout beautiful!
