Diane:  It is with tears in my eyes that I write you this thank you note.  These words do not really express my feelings for the beauty that is displayed in my star quilt.  You were the handmaiden on earth to accomplish an inner dream and quest to give me a spiritual sense of my mother on a daily basis.  The quilt is lovely and pictures just don't do justice to the feel and sewing beauty of this quilt.  The colors are magical and I do believe this material spoke to you in the way that my head was trying to transmit across the miles.  I would like to be a future reference for your future projects if someone would have any doubt.  You are true to your word and I pray that you continue to make these lovely masterpieces until you no longer can accomplish the task.  You have a rare talent that I hope will not be lost to future generations.  You must cherish your artistic ability and I thank God for allowing you to share your talent with me.  Thank you so much, Diane.  I would love to continue to call you my friend.  I am so proud to display this quilt on my bed.  You couldn't have produced a more wonderful gift to me.  May you enjoy the days of summer and continue to wrap yourself around the love of family and friends.  May God always be good to you.  Always, ~~Ann Schommer~~

Good morning, Diane! I was sure impressed with the gorgeous quilt you created! I love the way the colors transition from one shade to another and light to dark. The quilt lays nice and flat. I like the stitching and finishing work. It is a well-made work of art that we will take good care of. Last night I brought up your website and showed it to my husband. I wasn’t prepared for his reaction. His eyes got big and he said “Wow!” He doesn’t get amazed very often. He went on and on about how he likes the colors, and the star is his favorite shape, and how glad he was that I ordered this quilt. Dear Diane, I am a Lone Star quilter. I wrote a book and also teach classes extensively across the US. I would like to include more information in my lectures to share the Native American Star quilt tradition with folks who don't know any thing about it. Once I saw a photo in a magazine of a gymnasium, set up with chairs for the High School graduates. The back of each chair was draped with a star quilt for each graduate. It was very moving! Especially for me, because I am a star quilter! Do you have photos of any events where star quilts are being presented? Would you be interested in sharing photos that I could make slides and present in my lecture, to share your heritage? In addition, I would like to credit you and your community for the images I show/share. If you have flyers or brochures that you'd like me to distribute, please send those, too. I would be happy to mention that the quilts are available for sale, and that people can go to your website to reach you. I hope to hear from you soon, and we can correspond by e-mail. Diane, I can't tell you how beautiful I think my quilt is! I absolutely love it and thank you for all of the work you put into it.
